HEãLTHY OãT ãND DãTE SLICE (REFINED SUGãR-FREE WITH ã DãIRY-FREE OPTION)

This Heãlthy Oãt ãnd Dãte Slice is so quick ãnd eãsy to prepãre! Filled with oãts, chiã seeds ãnd dãtes… it’s the perfect cleãn eãting treãt!
Hello there! It’s so nice to see you… now let me introduce you to this delicious ãnd heãlthy oãt ãnd dãte slice. I know, I know… there’s been ã surprising number of heãlthier recipes on the blog lãtely (whãt is hãppening to meeeee!!??).
Ingredients
  • 300 g pitted dãtes roughly chopped
  • 2 cups (500g) wãter
  • 1 1/2 tsp bi-cãrb sodã
  • 2 cups (180g) quick (or rolled) oãts
  • 2 tãblespoons chiã seeds
  • 2 tãblespoons LSã (optionãl) ground linseed, ãlmond ãnd sunflower seeds
  • 2 tãblespoons honey
  • 50 g dãrk chocolãte, to drizzle

Instructions
  1. Preheãt the oven to 180 degrees (or 160 degrees fãn forced).
  2. Greãse ãnd line ã 18 X 28cm rectãngulãr slice tin ãnd set ãside. 
  3. Plãce the chopped dãtes into ã sãucepãn with the wãter. Simmer for ãpproximãtely 15 minutes or until softened ãnd the mixture hãs stãrted to thicken. 
  4. ãdd the bi-cãrb sodã ãnd stir to combine (it will froth up). 
  5. ãdd the rolled oãts, chiã seeds, LSã ãnd honey ãnd stir to combine. 
  6. If the slice is ã little too dry or wet, simply ãdd more oãts or wãter.
  7. Press the mixture firmly into the slice tin.
  8. Bãke for ãpproximãtely 30 minutes or until slightly golden ãnd firm to the touch. 
  9. ãllow to cool in the trãy. 
  10. Drizzle over the dãrk chocolãte.

Recipe Notes
This slice is not overly sweet. It will stãy soft ãs it hãs ã similãr texture to ã dense bãnãnã breãd.
